North Star Book Tours... In the countdown phase

 photo NorthStarBookToursBanner_zps009faae2.jpg
Hi everyone!

If you've yet to hear, North Star Book Tours is a new book touring service started by both I and Emz of Icy Cold Reads.
Our goal is to promote books (duh!) a well as help authors in a new and creative way. How you may ask? What ideas do we have? Well... That's kind of the point. I'm not planning to tell you at the current moment.

Why?
Because in a little less than 24 hours the website will be live! And you'll be able to see for yourself!

Hopefully you guys, as well as authors will like some of our ideas! And that's where the next part comes in.

We desperately need tour hosts to support us. Already we have so many people who have helped to support us and I can't express how mush they all mean to me. But still... In order to have a successful service we need YOU to give us a hand! So go fill out the form below! (also as a tour host we will put your blog on the tour host page! Great selling point...right?)

Also make sure you stop by for our twitter chat on January 3rd at NINE (9) PM EST! We'll be talking about what people will want to see for our services as well as other bookish things. It will also be a good time to ask any questions you might have!

SO remember!
photo northstarbutton_zps9d48c799.jpgTHE SITE GOES LIVE JANUARY 1st AT MIDNIGHT! (hahaha... yeah, we totally planned that!)

Top Ten Books I've Read In 2013

There are soooooo many AMAZING books I've read in 2013. I would try to do it by genre.. but that would just be way harder because I would then want to pick books from other categories! What's in the Snow? Winter Scavenger Hunt

(I just republished this post so that it would be bumped up to top post... Why? Because I want people to see it!)

I'm sure you all know what this post is about and if you don't clearly you don't follow me on twitter! Today I am so excited to be kicking off, along with my FABULOUS cohost, Jessica @ Reviews Abound, a project that has been months in the making, What's in The Snow?!
Now if you don't know what this is about, read closely.

What's in the Snow? is a month long scavenger hunt, that will be taking place from December 15th through January 15th. Each day a blogger will be posting a post in relation to winter. There are so many amazing posts that people are coming up with that will amaze you with their uniqueness and creativity.
On top of that fun stuff each blogger will be post a question along with the question number on their site. Each question is relatively easy to answer or can be searched pretty easily. There are some that I might say could have a few different answers for them, so we will make sure that your answer could work. Any questions about the questions please feel free to ask one of us.
So what are these clues all about. Well it's a scavenger hunt, right? And what fun would it be to scavenge for no reason?! Therefore we have come up with the perfect solution! PRIZES! There are so many amazing prizes that you'll get the chance to enter for. (And they are seriously amazing! I'll definitely be entering whenever possible!) So every 2 weeks a NEW grand prize will go up with epic prizes and lots of ways to enter! (This means there will be two giveaways during the course of the hunt.) Each Giveaway will include HALF of the clues you will find during the duration of the hunt. You'll need to check back to on of our original posts where we will be updating the giveaway sections. (Please note that a new post for each giveaway WILL NOT go up, instead each giveaway will go up ON THIS SAME EXACT POST or at Reviews Abound.) PLUS there will be giveaways from different bloggers occurring as well so make sure you check out ALL of the posts going up! You never know what you might win!

Now before you check out the amazing schedule and see all of the bloggers participating, I want to say some quick thank you's to some of the people who have made this even possible.

First up is Emz @ Icy Cold Reads and Arial @ In Italics. The beautiful buttons and banners that you'll see throughout the hunt were made by them. Without them you most likely would have ended up with some very badly made buttons that couldn't even hold a candle to these. Thank you two so much for taking the time and effort to create such beautiful buttons! I don't know what we would have done without you!

Next up is a GIANT thank you to all of the authors participating in the event. Many have donated prize, helping to make this event all that more fantastic! They will go unnamed as I want to leave you in suspense so you'll have no idea what to expect. BUT every time you see one of their names on one of the posts know how much we appreciate all that they've done for us.
Clearly I can't forget to thank each and every blogger who signed up to participate. Without them having an event of this caliber would be impossible. Each of these people are FANTASTIC and truly amazing to work with! They had so many ideas and really have made it so this event is unique!
I also want to thank the people who donated prizes for the sake of this event! Thank you so much!
There is a person who I need to thank, who without her, this event might not have happened. Maybe something similar might have occurred, but the idea? It just wouldn't be the same. So on that note, I'd like to thank Klaudia @ The Observant Girl for giving us the idea to do a scavenger hunt. I feel like I never really thanked her properly and truthfully I'm not sure I ever would have had such a brilliant idea! Thank you so much, Klaudia, for making this event come to life.
And last, but far from the least, I want to give a giant shout out to my cohost Jess! You always hear how important it is to have a cohost that you can trust and work well with and that is SO TRUE! Going into this event I really didn't know anything about Jess or her blog. It was sheer coincidence that we had both expressed an interest to do a blogging event at the same time and at this point this was maybe the first day I'd ever really talked to her. I think that day we both took a risk choosing to work together on a project where we knew so little about each other. Personally, I am so glad I took that risk. This event, while not only have I had a blast doing it (even though in this last stage all credit goes to Jessica. She did an incredible job pulling it all together.) I have also come out with an amazing friend. I don't even remember what my life was like without her. So Jessica here is my very public THANK YOU SO MUCH! Without you this event would never have happened!

Okay, time to stop being mushy. Here's the schedule I'm sure many of you have been waiting for!
**Please take note that each day the list will be updated with the correct post links. If you click on a link before the person's post date it will just take you directly to their blog.**

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight

Title: The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
Author: Jennifer E. Smith
Genre: YA, Contemporary, Romance
Series: Stand-alone
Content: Kissing
Rating: Bison

So I went into this book not expecting to like it. I mean really I just wanted a quick light read and this was the Amazon teen deal of the day. So then I was like why not, it's gotten some amazing reviews and I loved the title. Yeah I know a lot of people thought it was too long, but I thought it had a nice ring to it. So I read it and well I REALLY LIKED IT. So I don't believe at love at first sight. Well except for dogs, I can totally love a dog at first sight, but people, UMMMMM, nope, not possible. People are way to complex. So I was a bit skeptical when it was talking about love at first sight, well anyways here's my breakdown.
THE PREMISE
Hadley just missed her flight by FOUR minutes. And she's not too happy about. Well if she thought that maybe she could get out of her father's wedding this way, then that would be great, but she knows everyone will just get more upset. So then she meets Oliver, who goes to Yale and is from Great Britain, which makes everything a bit better. So they talk a lot and then the book sort of takes off from there.
THE PROS
1. I loved the characters. Hadley and Oliver were just awesome and all of the other characters were pretty cool too.
2. Character development. I love how even in the course of 24 hours people can change and develop. Normally I'd see this as a bad thing because how can someone change so dramatically in 24 hours, but this felt realistic.
3. The concept. I love the whole meeting in an airport thing; I mean that's just a great idea.
4. The writing. I loved this authors writing style. Like it is REALLY good!!
THE CONS
1. There was no solid ending. I am a big fan of solid endings, like epilogues, so unless there is another book planned, I WANT AN EPILOGUE!!!I really love epilogues, even if it's like a one paragraph thing.
OVERALL
I really liked this book and it was definitely worth my time and effort to read. I plan to read other books by this author, too.
WOULD I READ THIS BOOK: YES
WOULD I BUY THIS BOOK: YEP
WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK: WITHOUT A DOUBT
WOULD I READ OTHER BOOKS BY THIS AUTHOR: YES!!!(She has a book called This is What Happy Looks Like, and it sounds awesome.)
