Summer Lovin' Day THREE!!!

So first of all....UPDATES
So far I've read:
Until I Die by Amy Plum
The Girl with the Iron Touch by Kady Cross
Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins
(I loved them all!)

MY FAVORITE FICTIONAL FEMALE CHARACTER
That is a tough one there are so many I LOVE. At the moment though I would have to say Deryn Sharp from Leviathan. I love that series ton pieces and just did a reread of it!!! So Deryn is
A girl
who is masquerading as a boy
aboard the airship LEVIATHAN
during the first World War.
She is incredibly smart.
And of course super brave.
Her plans are brilliant (who else would think of launching spices at machines to beat them?)
She puts her best friend before her country.
And she isn't afraid to have fun!

In all Deryn sharp (AKA Dylan Sharp) is my all time favorite heroine. I really do love books when girls dress as boys! :)

99 PAGE CHALLENGE
The object of the game is to pick a book you have not yet read, turn to page 99 and read that page. Then you give a synopsis of that page and tell us if, based only on that page, would you want to read this book?

Ashes of Twilight (Ashes Trilogy, #1)
So I picked Ashes of Twilight by Kassy Tayler
SUMMARY VIA GOODREADS
Wren MacAvoy works as a coal miner for a domed city that was constructed in the mid-nineteenth century to protect the royal blood line of England when astronomers spotted a comet on a collision course with Earth. Humanity would be saved by the most groundbreaking technology of the time. But after nearly 200 years of life beneath the dome, society has become complacent and the coal is running out.  Plus there are those who wonder, is there life outside the dome or is the world still consumed by fire? When one of Wren's friends escapes the confines of the dome, he is burned alive and put on display as a warning to those seeking to disrupt the dome’s way of life. But Alex’s final words are haunting. “The sky is blue.”  What happens next is a whirlwind of adventure, romance, conspiracy and the struggle to stay alive in a world where nothing is as it seems. Wren unwittingly becomes a catalyst for a revolution that destroys the dome and the only way to survive might be to embrace what the entire society has feared their entire existence.

SUMMARY OF PAGE 99 VIA ME!
So Wren and someone called Pace are traveling via sewer! (Sounds like a blast) And Wren is grumbling on about how she wants to leave him behind because he's just slowing her down. (Was not pleased with her at this part!) Pace then gets stuck and Wren goes back for him! (CHARACTER REDEMPTION!)

WOULD I READ THIS BOOK???
Based on this page I think that I would. Although at first I was not a fan of Wren, by the end of the page I kind of liked her....SOOOOO, yes I would read this book!

Play With Me/Ryan Hunter

Play With Me (Grover Beach Team, #1)Ryan Hunter (Grover Beach Team, #2)
Play With Me                                                                              Ryan Hunter

Author: Piper Shelly
Genre: YA, Contemprary, Romance, Shorter than an actual book, a good length
Rating: Zebra
Received via the book tour type thing which in no way effected my opinion.

Play With Me Summary:
A short, sweet novella.

Ryan Hunter's parties are legend. And tonight she's going to be there.

Liza Matthews anticipates the return of her best friend and only love since kindergarten from soccer camp. But when Tony finally shows up, his mind is more focused on another girl. And worse, she's a soccer player. Fighting for the attention Liza craves, she's just a hairbreadth away from making a very stupid decision. But when extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures, she's prepared to play ball to get her man.

The tryouts are hell, the first match ends bloody, and the morning after the selection party she wakes up in the worst place possible—in the arms of the captain of the soccer team. The hottest guy in school. Ryan Hunter

Ryan Hunter Summary:
Ryan Hunter kissed more girls than he cares to remember. But the only one he ever wanted is in love with his best friend.

Watching Liza Matthews’ obsession with Tony Mitchell is a torture Ryan conceals from everyone. Until after a five-week soccer camp, where Tony gets involved with someone else, things suddenly take a different turn. Ryan knows if he doesn’t make a move now and grab his chance, he might never get another.

Asked by Tony to distract Liza, Ryan is only too happy. He subtly seduces her first into his soccer team and later on to his party. He does all in his power to make her see that he’s not just an insufferable playboy but a guy who really cares about her.

Some one-on-one soccer training, a passionate kiss — things seem to be going the way he wants. Except Ryan didn't reckon on his best friend showing up at the worst possible moment and destroying everything...

MY THOUGHTS
A lot of times an author tries to write two books, one from each of the main character's POV and the second one is never as good as the first. Because, well, you already no what's going to happen. Half the time you can even guess exactly what the second character was thinking during a situation. You think, why on Earth would I spend my money on a book I've already read. (Okay so a lot of people really don't think that and they end up buying the book anyways, but I'm talking about me here...in a weird round about way.) So after reading Play With Me when it first came out (and loving it) and then I heard the author was coming out with another book in Ryan's POV. I was like, nah, I don't think I will want to read that, I mean I basically already read it. And then I saw this blog tour and I was like, well this looks fun....might as well give the book a shot.
I'm so glad I did because although I prefer the first one I still loved the second one. I loved getting a knew POV and really, I just loved Ryan. The POV were different. There were different thoughts in the characters heads and I think that if the books had been combined into one (which would have not been good) you could have easily been able to distinguish the different voices of Liz and Ryan.
To say that I loved both books is true and I would definitely recommend them!!
I even made a lovely chart....which isn't that good, but, hey I tried! I loved the characters in these stories! I loved getting the different opinions on everything, but most of all I really enjoyed the stories! Looking for a fun light read? Check these out! And I definitely can't wait to read more from this author!!!

WOULD I READ THESE BOOKS: YES!!
WOULD I BUY THESE BOOKS: OF COURSE
WOULD I RECOMMEND THESE BOOKS: YEP!!!
WILL  I READ THE NEXT ONE: I believe the author is coming out with a new story from Tony's POV and I definitely plan to check it out!
WILL I READ MORE BY THIS AUTHOR: YES!!! I'm excited to start her book, Loving Your Lies!

Top Ten Tuesday #13

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke and the Bookish!

THIS WEEK'S TOPIC IS:
Top Ten Most Intimidating Books
The Enchantress (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #6)
Shadow and Bone (The Grisha, #1)City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)The Girl with the Iron Touch (The Steampunk Chronicles, #3)Never Fade (The Darkest Minds, #2)Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1)Rose Under FireCress (Lunar Chronicles, #3)Fyre (Septimus Heap, #7)

I was intimidated by Shadow and Bone and Anna and The French Kiss because sooo many people LOVE them. And while I've yet to have read Shadow and Bone, Anna and the French Kiss was really good!!!
The City of Bones that I din't think I would like that much and I didn't. Sooooo many other people love it and it's intimidating to be like, Oh yeah....that book, not a big fan.....
Harry Potter is also a hugely intimidating book because almost every person on Earth has read and LOVED it. I've read it and I really love the WHOLE series, but they still kind of scare me when I go back for a reread.....I always worry that I won't like them as much as I did before.
Fyre, The Enchantress, and The Girl with the Iron Touch are hugely intimidating to me because they are the last books in series I LOVE. And while I ADORED The Enchantress, I haven't read the other two and I'm kind of scared to in case they aren't amazing series closers. (I own both of them and every morning I wake up and they are STARING me in the face.....It's scary.)
As for Never Fade, Cress, and Rose Under Fire, the authors had such amazing first books that I have no idea how they could possibly write a worthy follow-up....They will probably pull it off, but it's still super duper scary!!!!
Those are some books that I find intimidating.....WHAT ARE YOURS??????

Summer Read-a-thon Post #1

So this is my start up post for the Summer Read-A-thon!!!
Let me start off with listing my goals!
Until I Die by Amy Plum
TimeRiders by Alex Scarrow
The Girl with the Iron Touch by Kady Cross
The Trouble with Flirting by Clair LeZebnik
The Last Echo by Kimberly Derting
Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins
Doomed by Tracy Deebs
Mila 2.0 by Debra Drizza
Let the Sky Fall by Shannon Messenger
The Pearl Wars by Nick James
Brightest Kind of Darkness by P.T. Michelle
Wearing the Cape by Marion G. Harmon
The Mark of Athena  by Rick Riordan
Fyre by Angie Sage
The chance of me reading ALL of these books? Slim to none. I felt the need to list several because I can never make up my mind on what I want to read. There are a couple definite that I have already started and just need to finish. (The Girl with the Iron touch, TimeRiders) But othere than that I'm going to pick and chose, I might even read books that are not on the list.....because I'm cool like that. (Not really)
And introducing myself, well I'm Fly to the Sky, which is obviously not my real name. (Wouldn't it be cool if it was?) I'm a high school student (going into my junior year) currently out on summer vacation. I get side tracked EXTREMELY EASILY and I am OBSESSED with the color green. (You could look into my dresser and be amazed that half my clothes are some shade of green...mostly lime green.)  I love both steampunk and Nature books (like Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld and anything by Carl Hiaasen) . I have always LOVED to read and I'm kind of opinionated so I decided to start a blog in order to voice said opinions. I'm blogging from the wonderful state of New York located in the U.S. where sports are more important than education. (I kid you not.) This is my first read-a-thon and I'm a bit nervous! PEACE OUT!!! :)
