But when Millie is released on her eighteenth birthday, she finds things are nothing as she was taught. People vanish, never to be seen again. Lies cover every word. Trust is as fragile as ice.

And then there is Reed. Born and raised outside the Prison walls, his dreams and thoughts cause Millie to doubt everything she has ever believed.

I am so excited to be part of this tour! Watch out for later this month when I will post my review for both Aberrant AND Moirai and there should also be an interview with the fabulous author!

“He wants her thrown in the dumpster.” I grimaced as I approached the mattress. “Help me.” I gestured towards the body. “I can't carry her on my own.” Even if I could, I wasn't doing this alone.

“I'm not throwing her away like garbage!” Lisa crossed her arms. “Think of something else, Jacqueline.”

“We could grab some wood, wrap her body, and burn her.” I glanced around the small bedroom. It was mostly empty, except for the dresser against the wall. There were no trinkets, no signs of another life outside of Genesis. I couldn't help but wonder if anyone missed her from back home.

“How are we going to do that without getting caught?” Lisa asked.

“I don't know. Craynor will know we did it.” We were the ones that were told to throw the body away.
“We could find a place in the far end of the lot and bury her.”

Lisa frowned. “No, I like the idea of burning her body. We'd be making a statement. Anita would have approved.”

“If we get caught, we'll be killed,” I reminded her. So much for staying out of trouble.

“He's killing his servants. You don't think that demands attention?” Lisa huffed. “I would have liked to know what I was getting involved in before I worked here.”

“It wasn't like you had a choice.” I reminded her bitterly. That was what we were fighting for: our freedom to make choices. Whether they were right or wrong, they were our choices to make.

“Even so,” Lisa scoffed, “she deserves more than being thrown away like a piece of trash.”

Footsteps clomped through the hallway, just outside the door. “Well whatever we decide, we need to do it fast.”

Waiting on Wednesday: Naturals

Waiting by Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine!
This post highlights a book that I am dying to be released!!

The Naturals

The book I'm dying to read this week is The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes! This author has written some other books that I LOVE and I can't wait to get my hands on this! (Plus the cover is amazing!!!)

Seventeen-year-old Cassie is a natural at reading people. Piecing together the tiniest details, she can tell you who you are and what you want. But it’s not a skill that she’s ever taken seriously. That is, until the FBI come knocking: they’ve begun a classified program that uses exceptional teenagers to crack infamous cold cases, and they need Cassie.

What Cassie doesn’t realize is that there’s more at risk than a few unsolved homicides— especially when she’s sent to live with a group of teens whose gifts are as unusual as her own.

Sarcastic, privileged Michael has a knack for reading emotions, which he uses to get inside Cassie’s head—and under her skin. Brooding Dean shares Cassie’s gift for profiling, but keeps her at arm’s length.

Soon, it becomes clear that no one in the Naturals program is what they seem. And when a new killer strikes, danger looms closer than Cassie could ever have imagined. Caught in a lethal game of cat and mouse with a killer, the Naturals are going to have to use all of their gifts just to survive

It comes out November 5th!!
I AM SO EXCITED!!!!

Ethereal Fury: Gemini Rising #1: Review

Title: Ethereal Fury
Author: Jessica O'Gorek
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance, Sci-Fi
Series: Gemini Rising #1
Rating: Whale

THE PREMISE

Angry at the human race and its methodical destruction of her resources, Mother Earth recruits souls who have just left their bodies to serve Her, and turns them against humanity. A powerful, rising force proceeds to carry out Mother Nature’s plan to systematically destroy towns, cities, states… and eventually, the world. Amidst the chaos, a forbidden relationship between a human girl, Violette, and Onyx, a lead Gemini, begins. They will both find themselves in the middle of a revolutionary war that will either save, or destroy our world.

MY THOUGHTS
Without a doubt Gemini Rising was a unique read. I can seriously say that I don't think I've read anything else quite like it.
The good thing was that yes, it may have been incredibly unique, but it was also pretty enjoyable.
I a first had a very hard time attempting to settle in with the writing style. Some of it just find seem to flow together. And truthfully I think that for me, it was one of my biggest problems with the book. The style seemed somewhat as if it was talking down to me. As if it was trying to explain everything that was taking place like I was a little kid. After a while I did get over it, and I was able to ignore it for the most part, but I definitely struggled with that aspect of the book.

The only other negative thing for me was the complete confusion I suffered in the beginning. While it did feel like the author was trying to explain it to the reader there was just so much going on. Within the first couple of chapters someone died got brought back to life in a way, another person was stabbed, an old man was feeling annoyed and then fatherly towards a girl (who was a main character, Violette) and then there was Mother Earth and they were above Earth and below Earth. They were just everywhere all the time.

Can you understand my confusion? Like the writing style though I was able to get by it and I did begin to really enjoy AND understand the story.

One of m favorite things about the book was Mother Earth! I love how she was an actual sentient being. Instead of being something that people just referred to as Mother Earth she was REAL! This was an IDE. That really proves the uniqueness of this book!

Another great part of the book were the Gemini. These Gemini are celestial beings who can take over the bodies of humans. Sighing the first two chapters already it's easy to tell exactly how Mother Earth and the Gemini feel about humans! I LOVED this aspect!

On to the characters.

So these characters are without a doubt interesting.... But I did have some major problems with them. Truthfully I though the Onyx and Violette's relationship was kind of weird.... But then again it might just be me. I just had the hardest time getting over the fact that originally Onyx was a middle age guy who died and was brought back to life and Violette who is waaayyyy younger. (The guy was middle age when he died and then it's now years after that.... So in spirit he's pretty old....) I really was just a little bit weirded out.

Beyond that the characters were fantastic!  They were unique and really helped to make the book!

So with that I would give this book three and a half stars! I thought it was a really interesting book and I can't wait to see what else the author has in store and also if there will be much improvement between this book and the next!

WHALE=THREE AND A HALF STARS
I was born in Chesapeake, Virginia on April 19th, 1979. I was raised within the American Indian religion and was taught great respect for the earth and all its living beings. Powwows, sweat lodges, vision quests, you name it, I’ve done it. I was the weird kid who would confront kids on the playground in elementary school when they squished a bug. I would very sincerely tell them what they were doing was morally wrong and then I would pray for the bug to come back as a butterfly in its next life.

I grew up admiring my father, Barry Weinstock, as an author. He took me around the country to different places so he could research and write his Wilderness Survival books. One of his greatest works, “The Path of Power,” was written with a great medicine man, Sunbear. When I was twelve I started
hand writing novels. My first one was two thousand pages. My dad always encouraged me and would rave about my writing. He gave me the confidence I needed to keep writing and follow my dream. My daughter, who is twelve, is currently working on her first novel. I hope to continue the legacy.

More than Jamie Baker: It only gets better

More Than Jamie Baker (Jamie Baker, #2)

Author: Kelly Oram
Series: Being Jamie Baker #2
Genre: YA, Romance, Fantasy
Rating: OWL

THE PREMISE

Jamie Baker, the only girl in the world with superpowers, has now accepted who she is and learned to control her power. Not to mention she has the best boyfriend on the planet. Life is finally looking good. But the day she witnesses an accident and decides not to save the guy out of fear of being exposed, she realizes that simply being Jamie Baker isn't enough.
After seeing Jamie so wrecked with guilt, the ever-helpful Ryan Miller decides it's time to make all of his fantasies about turning his girlfriend into an honest-to-goodness superhero become a reality.
Of course, coming up with a decent Super Name and fending off all of Ryan's attempts to get her into spandex aren't the only problems Jamie faces. The more her alter ego starts to make headlines, the harder it becomes for Jamie to hide her extracurricular activities from her best friend, the government, radical scientists, and the mysterious new guy who is determined to steal her from her boyfriend

                                 MY THOUGHTS
So unless you live under a rock (in which case I am sure you would be completely flattened unless it was just a teeny tiny rock) or if you have never been on my blog before, or maybe if you're oblivious to the world, then maybe, JUST maybe, you haven't heard of my complete undying love for Being Jamie Baker by Kelly Oram.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here, but already I'm kind of apprehensive about you.
I mean, I'm the kind of fan where if I could create a fan club for this book I would. I would do it in an instant! In fact, I believe I shall start a Jamie Baker fandom. Better yet, I'm going to make a Goodreads group about this book.

Trust me on this, guys, Jamie is a superhero and I am her super fan.

This is a book that I can say without a doubt, I LOVE and ADORE IT!

I got to revisit some of my favorite characters.
There were resolutions that I needed.
New mysteries opened up.
I got to see more of my favorite couple.
I got to see Jamie grow as a character.
And by the end my heart was shattered into a thousand little tiny pieces.

Here's the thing, I CAN'T TELL YOU MUCH!
I don't want to spoil anything for those of you who haven't read the first, or more likely those who have yet to have read the second!

I can say that this book was amazing.
Ryan Miller STILL ROCKS!
Jamie was a fantastic character!
The love triangle isn't really a love triangle... but it is super duper important to the whole book.
And after you finish this one... If you don't end up in a catatonic state in desperate need of the next book, then YOU ARE A HEARTLESS THING and I'm not quite sure we can be friends! (Kidding...sort of...)

If you've read Being Jamie Baker and you loved it, then I'm pretty sure you'll like this one just as much!

And if you've yet to pick up the first one, GET ON THAT!!!!! NOW!!!!

Below are some of my reactions for the book that I just happened to write down!

*Notr: The big sections of silence mean I was to into the book to even  consider updating!*
